The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serves residents of nursing and residential homes as well as residents of assisted living communities. The Ombudsman Program exists to perform activities on behalf of the residents and at their direction.  Communication with residents, families, or guardians is strictly confidential.

Ombudsmen:

  • Consult with consumers and providers
  • Monitor laws - state and federal
  • Monitor regulations
  • Make recommendations for improvements

The Ombsudsman Program is responsible for the Volunteer Resident Advocates program.  They recruit, train and supervise individuals who assist residents and families in order to resolve concerns.

The services of the CT Ombudsman Program are free and confidential.
