Hospital Deductible and Coinsurance: $1,100 / Benefit Period
- Days 0-60: $0
- Days 61-90: $275/ Day
- Days 91-150 $550/ Day
Skilled Nursing Facility Coinsurance:
- Days 0-20: $0
- Days 21-100: $137.50/ Day
Part A Premium (for voluntary enrollees only):
- With 30-39 quarters of Social Security coverage: $254/ Month
- With 29 or fewer quarters of Social Security coverage: $461/ Month
Part B Premium:
- Deductible: $135 / Year
- Standard Premium: $96.40 / month (for individual incomes $85,000 / year or less. Couples filing jointly - $170,000/year or less.) (Remains the same as 2009, provided you have your premium deducted directly from Social Security).
· Individuals and couples who do not have their premium deducted directly from Social Security will pay $110.50, a 15% increase over 2009.
· Those whose income is above $85,000/year for individuals and $170,000/year for couples filing jointly may pay a premium above $110.50. Go to 2010 Part B Premium Amounts for Persons with Higher Income Levels.
Medicare Deductible and Coinsurance Amounts for 2010
- Part A – This pays for inpatient hospital, skilled nursing facilities and some home health care.
For each benefit period beneficiary pays:
- Hospital stays
- 1-60 days = $1,100
- 61-90 = $275/day
- 91-150 = $550/day (Lifetime Reserve Days)
- All costs for each hospitalization day beyond 150 days.
- 1-60 days = $1,100
Skilled Nursing Facility Coinsurance
- For days 21 through 100 per benefit period = $137.50
Part B – covers physician services which are Medicare eligible, outpatient hospital services, select home health care services durable medical equipment (DME).
· $155/year. After the $155 deductible is met, the beneficiary pays 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for services.
Skilled Nursing Facility Coinsurance
- For days 21 through 100 per benefit period = $137.50
