2010 Medicare Deductible, Co-Insurance and Premium Amounts

 

Hospital Deductible and Coinsurance:  $1,132 / Benefit Period

  • Days 0-60:  $0
  • Days 61-90:  $283/ Day
  • Days 91-150  $566/ Day


Skilled Nursing Facility Coinsurance:

 

  • Days 0-20:  $0
  • Days 21-100:  $141.50/ Day


Part A Premium (for voluntary enrollees only):

 

  • With 30-39 quarters of Social Security coverage:  $248/ Month
  • With 29 or fewer quarters of Social Security coverage:  $450/ Month


Part B Premium:

 

  • Deductible:  $135 / Year
  • Standard Premium:  $96.40 / month (for individual incomes $85,000 / year or less.  Couples filing jointly - $170,000/year or less.)
  • Individuals and couples who do not have their premium deducted directly from Social Security will pay $115.40,.
  • Those whose income is above $85,000/year for individuals and $170,000/year for couples filing jointly may pay a premium above $161.50.  These premiums will be figured on a sliding scale depending on annual household income. 

 

 

For each benefit period beneficiary pays:

  • Hospital stays
    • 1-60 days = $1,132
    • 61-90 = $283/day
    • 91-150 = $566/day (Lifetime Reserve Days)
    • All costs for each hospitalization day beyond 150 days.
Part A- covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, and some home health care

Skilled Nursing Facility Coinsurance

  • For days 21 through 100 per benefit period = $141.50

 

Part B – covers physician services which are Medicare eligible, outpatient hospital services, select home health 62deductible is met, the beneficiary pays 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for services.
